I started sewing as a child making dolls clothes. I always had an abundance of fabric and thread to choose from as my mum also had a passion for creating, she still does! (I had to suffer wearing many a handmade dress as a child...)
So... after years of of making things and giving them away, in August 2021 I took the plunge and created my own business thus Handcrafted by BarbaraRuth emerged.
I decided it was about time I should sell some of my handmade items to fund my hobby so I now sell through two local gift shops and my own Etsy page.
I like nothing more than starting with paper and pen then sketching out a new design. I love to see it coming to life through fabric and thread.
All my fabrics are cut by hand so no two items are made exactly the same. Every item will have its own character and feel.
I can make any design possible, no limitations with what can be made. If you can envision, I can make it a reality.
I never like to see fabric going to waste so even the smallest scrap is upcycled to create something new. Flowers, leaves, you name it.
